I love how clear the display is, but the best part is the ability to control the laser right from the touch screen! You can move the laser head with the display which is much better for the laser, than moving the laser by hand. I also love that I can select projects saved on the SD card, directly from the touch screen. I can send a project to engrave without being hooked up to the computer or the phone! Simply a priceless addition to a great laser!
I recently added an extra positioning camera and a monitor for laser control to my Longer B1 40W, and I have to say – it was a fantastic decision. The camera makes positioning projects on the work area so much easier and more accurate, while the live view helps avoid mistakes and wasted material. The monitor also makes operating the laser much more convenient – everything is right at hand, without needing to connect an additional computer. Huge thanks to the service team, who not only recommended these upgrades but also helped with purchasing, setup, and calibration of the camera. They also gave great advice to install a filter for the laser head, which completely solved the issue with soot and smoke passing through the head. Additionally, they suggested 3D-printing a stable camera stand mount – now the camera holds its position perfectly, doesn’t shake with any movement, and stays steady at all times. Special thanks to Ryan, who is very active, responds quickly, and is always ready to help. His knowledge and dedication made the entire process smooth and problem-free. Top-notch professionalism, excellent advice, and outstanding technical support. I’m extremely satisfied with the results and can highly recommend both the equipment and the service team!
The display only works on the Longer B1 after the correct firmware has been installed. This is described in the enclosed instructions and works without any problems. Why a separate display at all? In my setup, the laser and 3D printer are in the basement, but my workstation is in the apartment. There is a WLAN connection, but the laser always has to be loaded and prepared. The original Makerbase web interface was ok but not always stable via the web browser. A completely new firmware is installed with the display. This has many advantages. Can be operated via the Longer app, new functions such as scanning the work area before starting are great. The laser also moves to the home position much faster than before. Summary: There is not only the display but also a modern firmware with much more comfort.
What a cool touch screen! real simple to use and it fits perfectly on the front of my laser engraver. Thank you for a wonderful tool I can use. I cannot wait to get started engraving with my brand new B 140 Watt Laser engraver!
